A collaboration that improves literacy & fosters a love for reading. We’d say this is one for the books.
Architects The MAAK, the Otto Foundation and furniture designers Pedersen + Lennard have collaborated to create a unique collection of modular bookshelves called ‘Rahmah-Rama’, for the opening of the new school library at Rahmaniyeh Primary School in District Six, Cape Town.
Made from folded steel and recycled materials, the unique process of designing these bookshelves with learners from Rahmaniyeh Primary celebrates not only the joy of reading, but a student’s creativity, which empowers them as active contributors to their immediate world.
Modern and modular, the Rahmah-Rama bookshelves can be moved, stacked, and rearranged to create a variety of reading and learning environments both inside and outside.
