Description
Working on the Rahmah Library at Rahmaniyeh Primary in District Six has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. It was an act of reclaiming joy, access, and possibility for a community with a complex and painful history.
The MAAK sees in architecture as a tool for social repair. Designing alongside the Otto Foundation, who have done extraordinary work in activating school libraries throughout District Six, offered us the chance to deepen that commitment. Throughout, we engaged teachers, learners, and community voices. Their input didn’t just inform the design—it anchored it.
